International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has addressed the issue of the rising interest in nuclear power by introducing Expanding Nuclear Power Programs. Aimed to improve the education and training of nuclear workforce for its 58 member states, while expecting 10 – 15 new member states to join in on the action.
After training a nuclear staff force, what is next on the agenda but to run with it? Literally, run with it. Pakistan, an unofficial member to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has largely been excluded from the trade of nuclear plants or materials, due to its own weapons program.
Now, after a routine inspection, Pakistan has come up short on their numbers of nuclear warheads. For a country that has been wanting to develop its civil nuclear energy, but has been finding it difficult, it is only a matter of time that it will turn up.
