A video from the People’s Jihad Front (PJF) was shown during an emergency meeting called by the Secretary General at 15.30 ET. The PJF claim that they are in possession of nuclear weapons and have connections within the Pakistani military. They claim that “[T]he dignity of Muslim men and women will not be redeemed except by blood and souls.”
Members of the General Assembly continue to debate on whether cooperation with the Pakistani government will be beneficial to obtaining the nuclear weapons. The Russian Federation vehemently argued that Pakistani officials have no control over their people and the military. Cooperation is not the right approach because the Pakistani government has already shown their incapacity to control their people. At the moment, the UK is backing this stance.
China, along with Canada and Cuba, has indicated that Pakistan should not be persecuted as PJF is a separatist group. Canada has suggested the deployment of troops to protect the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Cuba proposed halting all flights in and out of both Afghanistan and Pakistan. China believes that cooperation, both with Pakistan and other nations, is necessary to carry out a better investigation. This approach will hopefully result in capturing the extremists and reclaiming the nuclear warhead.
