Has Hamas just achieved a large security breach?

Russia, former supporter of Hamas entry into the Security Council, calls to expell Hamas from the room. This motion nearly passed, but now Hamas is sitting in the room listening in on possible military action in the region. Has Hamas just landed themselves a golden seat into valueable strategic information. What has promoted the Security Council to so quickly accept Hamas as a legitimate, trustworthy member of the Security Council? No information has been published to dispel Hamas involvement in situation, or has the terrorist group been identified. Hamas has yet to comment and it seems the issue has been forgotten.
