Joint US/Israeli Commando force could obstruct initial cooperative efforts between Hamas and Israel

The Israeli delegate to the Security Council has released a statement to The New York Times that it supports a joint Egyptian and Hamas investigation into the source of the smallpox terrorist threat as an overture to cooperation and peace. However, according to a leaked US diplomatic cable, The United States and Israel are prepared to send in special operations forces if the source of the threat is discovered, and the situation warrants military action. An invasion of Gaza by US/Israeli special op’s is a scenario that could undermine any cooperation previously achieved by Egypt, Hamas, and Israel.

  1. The Israeli delegate on the Security Council would like to clarify that cooperation between special operation forces of Israel and the United States currently is not invade Gaza. The intention of having special operations forces from the United States in Israel would be to help with logistics helping insure the sovereignty and security of the State of Israel. Currently, Israel is waiting for more detailed information about the location of the smallpox virus before any course of action is taken. Cooperation between Egypt and its allies to located this virus is seen as favorable by Israel to eradicating this threat in order for there to be future cooperation for peace in the area.

  2. While the USA is pleased with Egypt's actions, however, with the owner of this virus is unknown, it questions its choice in partners. As such, the USA is not at all convinced it can trust a terrorist organization with saving Israeli and American peoples. As such, should Hamas be revealed as the holder of the virus, the USA is prepared to take action.
