The Security Council opened this morning with a speech from Mexico urging the council to return to their discussion of topic 2, under the notable absence of a number of members.
After voting to return to the topic, India emphasized trade links and mutual recognition as important issues addressed in the council’s working paper 2-1. The delegate stressed that parties involved in conflict must “respect one another’s right to exist.”
The delegate also called for the swift removal of working paper 2-2, his reasoning that the body had passed a resolution dealing with similar information previously. This seemed to be met with agreement, however, the draft could not be removed due to the absence of one of its signatories.
The council then swiftly moved into unmoderated caucus.
