Opening Speeches at the WTO

Alina Anghel

Iran was the most outspoken in the open speeches at the World Trade Organization. They supported the manifestations seen all over the arab world, and stated that without a free Palestine the economies of the Arab world counld not thrive.

A general consensus already exists among the delegates for a lowering trade tariffs and creating regulations on multinational corporations. Australia discussed their view of limiting protectionism and Malaysia brought into question agricultural issues. Brazil pointed out they were one of the original members of the organization, and would like to address unequal regulations for multinational enterprises in the global economy and their lack of accountability.
